Question 68 dash lights

i removed the gauges from my 1968 to replace all the bulbs. the oil and gen idiot lights are using different sockets (gray) and bulbs from the rest of the lights. is this correct? if not where can i get the two different sockets.
my ricks camaro catalog only carries one type.

thanks

Yes, that is correct, the rest of the sockets are black. I just went thru all of my sockets to make sure they worked. I found that you need to check the sockets with the bulbs in them before you put them back in the pod. I had to use a file on mine to get a good connection. NPD has both sizes of sockets in their catalog. Good luck Jerry

I don't believe the sockets in question are any different from the rest of the sockets, they should all be the same size, be black or gray!....Just make sure they make good contact with the printed circuit board.....I remember I needed to slightly bend up the metal contacts on the sockets to make a good contact with the circuit board!

Yup, 2 of them have gray sockets and use totally different bulbs.

Also, if you want the gauges to light up a lil brighter, there is a 7 watt replacement for the 4 watt 194 bulbs, I can't remember the #, 20xx something, a 4 digit number.
