tach wiring

The previous owner of my 69SS installed a Sun mini Tach. They didn't connect the wire to illuminate the tach. Just stuffed it up under the dash. I think I'm going to splice it onto my speedometer light wiring so that it can dim. Want to make sure that the white/grey wire coming of the bulb socket is the hot and the black is the ground. Does that sound right to anybody?

Also, the power wire is wrapped around the end of a fuse and plugged into the FRONT of the fuse box. Looks really, really rigged. any suggestions?

Re: tach wiring

I can see the grey wire but can't get to it to splice onto it.(I need my knowledge of what to do and my 5-yr olds arms and hands). From looking at a wiring diagram can I splice onto the dark green wire coming off the light switch? I think that leads to the instrument panel lighting but the diagram shows there might be a fuse.

Any ideas are extremely welcome

Re: tach wiring

My memory may be fuzzy, but is there a spade terminal on the fuse block that has power with the lights?

Re: tach wiring

I don't think there is a spade terminal, but will double check

Re: tach wiring

There's a terminal for it on the bottom of the fuse block. At least there is for '68.
