module or pick-up?

1989 RS with TBI and remote coil HEI. There is no spark at low cranking RPM's. I have bench tested the dizzy and get spark if I spin it by hand, but if I spin it at a slow cranking speed, no spark. So... would that be the pick-up coil, or would that be the module?

Re: module or pick-up?

Good question. Start with a visual on the pickup assembly. Look for a cracked magnet.

Re: module or pick-up?

I would guess the pickup, but I'd replace them both. They're pretty cheap.

Re: module or pick-up?

I'd start with the pickup, been bit by that one a few times. It usually winds up being cheaper to get a whole reman distributor.
