help me out guys i got a 98 camaro and today i drove it home from work and the car wont start now the security light started flashing and it wont kick over..idk wat to do i know its costly gettin it fixed at the dealership but is there another way i can fix it myself?

First thing to do is clean the contacts on the "little thingie" on the top of the key near the black handle part. That is a resistor and there may be some crud on that or in the lock cylinder that won't allow the computer to read it. Good luck, cause the next part gets harder and more espensive.

i cleaned the key still doesnt work the security light also flashes

move the tilt up and down while trying to start, there are small fine wires to the lock cyl,
what brake, you may get them to touch, also try your other key,

Do a Google search for "VATS Bypass". There is a fairly simple procedure that is used to bypass the security system. This will get you going until you can get it in to be fixed.....Jb
