Turn the Key and no dash lights

I was drving my car yesterday and the tac and MPH guages flickered for a sec the the car just died. I treid to start it again the nothing happens except the chim for you having the key in the ignition and the door open i checked my battery it good the connection is good too. I think it is a short in the column because my lights will turn on and but the stuff that is controlled by the ignition switch isnt working im kinda lost and wondering if anyone ahs ran into this before...

Re: Turn the Key and no dash lights

Make sure there is 12.5 volts constant power to the ignition switch via 10 gauge red wire. Also there should be 12.5 volts to everything that runs off of the ignition switch when in the run position. You can check this at the switch itself by sticking multimeter probes onto the lugs of the switch for power or at say the positive of the coil and the likes.
