Yes I have had a alignment here recently. Could the guy have messed up something?
The pitman arm checked to make sure it is in the middle of its arch.
The steering wheel should be level and pionting in the middle then clamped in place
This checks that the steering wheel and pitaman arm ARE square on there splines...they only fit on one correct way..there is a 'blank; area in the splines to line up correct.
With steering wheel clamped, then the wheel alignment can proceed.
It is not uncommon om many makes of car to do the wheel alignment then remove the steering wheel and replace squared up on the spline..
The GM aussie Holden HQ is a very similar setup to the camaro....
I have seen where the steering wheel was pulled off, ligned up, even thu the 'blank; ib the splines wasnt, then forced on with the nut....it actually stretched the threads on the end of the column requiring the column to be re threaded and a new nut (a spare Camaro one i had here.)
If the above happens you will have
1/one side of the indicators doesnt clk of or the other side clks off to early or have to turn the steering wheel to clk it on....just as you describe above
2/you could find u have a tighter lock one way and more the other...this could be quite large or just marginal.
IF this is the case, the nut could appears as if cross threaded, will be very tight to wind off the thread once 'loosened' and the steering wheel will be a real bitch to pull off the column splines even with a steering whell puller
DO NOT attempt to pull the steering wheel off without a steering wheel puller...they are cheap a few bucks only for a chinese one for home use.
The above only happens with either a lazy operator or one that has not been trained correctly.
