69 Console Oil Pressure Line - - PICS???

I'm adding the 69 console gauge package w/ oil pressure line through firewall.

Can anyone post a picture, or describe the correct penetration point to drill through the firewall?

THANKS!

mine is about level with the valve cover bottom edge in the driver rear of the motor. On the inside of the car it is about 1.5" above and the left of the top of the gas pedal. A word of advice....use a copper line instead of nylon and a rubber grommet where it passes through the firewall. Mine melted from engine heat and I got a small oil fire. Luckily no real damage.

Copper line is incorrect but you can get the line kits both copper and nylon from any parts store or online repro parts dealer. If you don't want a leak at the factory style guage don't use copper and get the proper ferrel and end insert, the factory guage is different than autometer and other aftermarket guages.

Hi Dennis,
Do you have a Part Number for the copper line?
Thank You.

No but here's an ebay auction for a copper line kit for an Autometer guage...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-A...1%7C240%3A1318

This will leak if used with a factory style guage

Hmm, so go with a leaky copper line or stick with the proper prero line (I have a kit from rick's)...and risk a potential Fire>??

I must admit that my last Z28 (1995) had a white oil pressure line that seemed much more durable than the repro one I just got...maybe it's just me...

Thoughts>?

I transferred over the tapered end and the screw in nut from the original line for my per console pressure gauge and it is true it does leak slightly. Once I put Teflon tape on each component in sealed up tight and has been perfect ever since. I will never use a non metal oil pressure line again and risk a fire.

I went to Autozone and they sell a kit that has about 10ft of copper tubing and all the fittings you need for the install.
