Question pertronix w/ msd6al and a oer tack w/ msd adapter

i have the above components on my 67 and smoked the tack!!
funny thing is it worked fine untill the car ran longer while i set timing ect and then nothing, pulled the tack and it had smoked the large resister on the board!!
so with anyone running this simular setup how is your tack connected?
i had searched and already called msd teck line and dont feel comfortable pluging in another tack without input from other members here.
appreciate the help
