1969 Voltage regulator mounting

Hey guys should the voltage regulator on a 1969 Camaro be mounted directly to the fire wall with machine screws or use three rubber insulated speed nuts?
Was looking at this older post that showed this link. https://www.camaros.net/techref/elect..._regulator.htm

Anyone have a answer. Would be much help.
Thanks

They are machine screws, i think 3/8. Mounted directly to fire wall.

If it is stock location, wouldn't the VR be on the radistor support vice firewall?

Re: 1969 Voltage regulator mounting

The regulator mounts to the rad support above the horn relay. Depending on your build date will dictate what the mounting solution is. Sept 68 through sometime around Nov 68, use the rubber nuts, Jan 69 to end 3/8 hex head machine screws. Dec 68 is a toss up.

Re: 1969 Voltage regulator mounting

I am doing the wiring on my 68 SS/RS. Does the voltage regulator have to be mounted with the rubber nuts or can I just use the hex head machine screws? Was there a specific reason for the rubber nuts? Does it have to be insulated for some reason?
Thanks

Re: 1969 Voltage regulator mounting

OE design for 67 & 68 have rubber nuts and a strap from one bolt from VR chassis to radiAtor support.

I hard bolted my 68 VR using 1/4-20 bolts and nuts without the rubber nuts. Works fine.

Re: 1969 Voltage regulator mounting

Thanks My 68 That is what I did also. Just wanted to make sure before I went hot with the wiring. Didn't want to ruin anything.
Thanks
