Engine Harness Wire Ident Help

I am piecing together my wiring and I have a question for anyone in the know. My original engine wiring harness has a meshed wire and a yellow wire that are crimped to a heavier guaged a faded red wire that goes into a connector.

In this connector there is a black wire not being used that has fusible link stamped on it.

This connector receives a knife connector. Right now a red wire smaller guage wire from my msd is tied into this connector.

The new harness I have installed has this meshed wire and yellow wire do I tie into this connector with new harness. The car came with msd so I do not know if the install was done correctly!

Re: Engine Harness Wire Ident Help

Could be the two wires, yellow - from R teminal on solenoid- and meshed wire - resistive wire from firewall connector being ignition power, tied together to supply ign 'ON' signal to MSD box and would be normal for MSD install.

Picture would be good.

Re: Engine Harness Wire Ident Help

Do I need to buy a jumper so that my meshed wire and solenoid wire(yellow) from firewall can tie into msd? Sorry if this seems like silly question. My meshed and yellow wire are tied together with a horseshoe shaped connector on end??

Horseshoe terminal, sideways I might add, is OE design. Hook them both up to the MSD, according to the instructions of the MSD box or from their website.
