69 camaro ignition question

when i turn my key off the car continues to run. Is this a bad ignition switch or what else could it be? it is a non-tilt column

Re: 69 camaro ignition question

Ign switch, the electrical portion on the column, may need adjusting, if car is stock configuration.
If an aftermarket ignition system or internal regulated alternator has been added, then it probably needs a diode added to prevent run-on after key is turned off.

Mad Electrical and MSD have instructions/illusrations concerning this event.

Re: 69 camaro ignition question

I had someone install it for me so I do not have the diode that was supposed to come with it. does anyone have on that they dont need or know where I can get one? I will try to call msd to see if I can get one from them.

Re: 69 camaro ignition question

By continuing to run, you don't mean 'dieseling' do you?
