Question Identify wires in engine harness please

What does the wire pair that are a yellow and a fabric (white w\red?) go to? Is it for a coil.... as in points\condenser type distributor? I'm running HEI so I have an idea what to do with these if they are for the coil. I believe it the "resitance" wire?

And in the one picture it shows a DBL (dark blue) wire marked for Oil Press. I'm just trying to make I have it right. It comes out of the harness real close to the wipers so it would be close to the back left of the engine.

Thanks!

Re: Identify wires in engine harness please

Yes, the one with the U spade terminal is the coil hot wire(s); resistance wire from fuse block to give less than 12V to coil when key in run position, yellow wire should split off and go down to the starter terminal for full 12V to coil when key is turned to start. So for HEI, you don't need the yellow and you need to replace the resistance wire with 12 gage conductor wire so you get the full 12V in "run".

Oil pressure sender for SBC is on block just behind intake and distributor, and I think blue is the correct color, so your tag should be correct.

I got your PM, I think the harness should fit in one of the smaller USPS flat rate boxes, or maybe even one of their Tyvek envelopes, so it should be less than $10 to ship.

Re: Identify wires in engine harness please

Thanks Eric,
Just read some past posts...... tie them both back (neither of them needed), run a 12 gauge from an IGN source like fuseblock spade straight to the HEI + terminal.

Through the bulkhead, that wire turns to P\B and runs to the horn relay. So I'm assuming that connection is no longer needed with an HEI either?
