Re: 1968 camaro ignition switch color wire question
There are no grounds connected to the ignition switch. The door jamb switch wire (20 Black) may appear to be a ground, but only when the door is open.
From the AIM:
*12 PurPLe - Crank wire which connects through the neutral safety switch and eventually to the 'S' terminal of the starter solenoid
*12 Pink - IGN power supplies power to gauges, signal/bu circuits and ignition circuits
*12 BRowN + 24 Brown/White - Power to Wiper, Heather A/C, Radio circuits. The Brn/W is related to the GEN lamp circuit and most likely ensures the generator (alternator) remains excited even if the GEN lamp burns out.
*12 Red - Main power input from horn relay via firewall connector.
*20 DarkGreen - Associated with the temperature switch. I'm not sure exactly how that circuit is wired but presume it may be for a temp light bulb test feature when cranking.
*20 Black - Door jamb switch used for key in the ignition buzzer.
*20 Pink - To horn relay key in the ignition buzzer connection via the firewall connector.
