Wacky Wipers!

They only work when I push, and hold, the button in. Any thoughts?

Re: Wacky Wipers!

Bad switch or poor ground I'd think. I believe when you turn on the wipers you are providing ground to the circuit through the switch...

What does the ground consist of? The dash area of my car was painted when the whole car was painted. I did not sand or remove any paint from this area. Thanks

When you fit the wiper switch there should be a circuit to ground from the body of the wiper switch
You may have to remove some paint (from somewhere you can't see it) so the switch can get a ground circuit.

Re: Wacky Wipers!

I used a star washer behind the switch (from the back side of the instrument panel). The switch has to have a good ground to work properly.

Re: Wacky Wipers!

I had this exact same issue and it was a bad wiper switch. I replaced it with one from firewheel classics (site sponsor) and it works perfectly now. It was one of the many electrical items that i have had to replace once I got my 68, but def. an easy fix.
