Original radio in 69 Z with an Ipod setup.

Guys,

I am trying to see how I would do this. I want to keep my original radio in my 69 Z but would like to be able to hook up an Ipod setup to it somehow.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Brian

If your radio happens to be AM/FM, then you can just use an FM modulator unit in the antenna line.

Brain, store the original radio and get another AM and have it converted to a AM/FM/MP3 unit, that is what I did (not installed yet though)

Re: Original radio in 69 Z with an Ipod setup.

This is what I did, after seeing what a few others have done with theirs ...

I reinstalled an original AM radio in the original location and installed a modern stereo in the glove box. The AM radio is hooked up to the front speaker. I unfolded the cheap cardboard glove box, traced it onto a piece of sheet metal, folded it into the correct shape and welded the box tabs together. It fit the first try and is solid. The radio does penetrate the back of the glove box thru a field cut out and had to be offset to the left because of the heater box. I flocked the inside of the metal glove box after test fitting and left a gap below the vinyl wrapped/wood mounting plate so you can still use the bottom of the glove box. The 1/8" stereo cable is routed to my MP3 player . The unit I installed has a remote control.

Next I need to add an amp and subwoofer to over power the 454 .

Hey Kevin-

Who did your conversion for you?

Andrew

Re: Original radio in 69 Z with an Ipod setup.

Ditto OneNineSixtyNine I did the same in my 67rs and put an amp/sub in but do not have the original am/fm so hooked up front speakers to system for pretty good sounds,,,not as nice as the 327 though Needing some sort of dummy radio or block out plate to finish

Andrew, Joe C. did the conversion. I recently did a test hookup and it played great.
