Amps vs volts

my 69 currently has an under-dash gauge cluster with AMP gauge, not Voltmeter.

I am replacing dash gauge carrier with an aftermarket unit and would like to go back with Voltmeter not Amp meter.

My question is do the wires that go to the amp meter currently, which are hot from the battery, connect to a voltmeter?????

Any info would help...

Re: Amps vs volts

NO! Those ammeter wires are downright dangerous, and need to be removed at the source.

The voltmeter can be hooked up to any ign 12 v source, it doesn't need those big wires.

Re: Amps vs volts

I agree with what's been said. I'd recommend tieing your guage to an IGN source instead of ACC so you can see the battery voltage while cranking the engine.
