Smile 69 signal light problem

Good Day- when I signal left the dash blinker blinks and the rear blinker operates but the front is lit but does not blink. I had the right side one working but now same thing--the rear blinks but the front lights but doesnt blink. Any ideas are appreciated. They are the original parking lights. Hate to replace with repros.
thanks--John C

Re: 69 signal light problem

SO if I read this right, the dash light blinks, the rear light blinks, and the front light comes on steady when you indicate turn?

Have you tried replacing the flasher? May be weak?

Also, I would pull the steering wheel and inspect the turn signal mechanism in the column. Just some ideas.

Best of luck.

Re: 69 signal light problem

First (obvious) would be to check the bulbs themselves. Then make sure the pigtails from the housings are plugged in solidly into the front light harness.

Put a test light on the spades (don't recall which wire is running and which is signal, try both) inside the plastic connectors on the front light harness, turn the turn signals on. If the test light flashes with the signal, then it's connection or the housing. If not, then start working your way back checking the connection to the firewall bulkhead, column wiring connector, and so on.

Driving a #s-matching Z in the rain..... and lovin' it....

Re: 69 signal light problem

I had the same problem on my car, when I was working on the electrical system, I had a bunch of bulbs laying around and used them. Come to find out I had put a couple of single element bulbs in to test the system. after an hour of trouble shooting it dawned on me what I had done. I put the correct bulbs in an wha la it works.
