Unhappy Gas gauge problem-need help

My 69 camaro gas gauge was pinned on "full". I reached behind
the dash cluster and the plug was out so i plugged it in to the
back of the dash fuel gauge. In the trunk the wire from the sending unit was also unplugged, i plugged that in also.
After doing these 2 things my gas gauge went down to "empty"

i put some gas in the car and it still reads empty.
What do you think is the problem? Is it the sending unit inside the tank, a ground problem or the gauge in the dash itself?

Thanks for any ideas and suggestions

Re: Gas gauge problem-need help

Sendig unit is inside the tank and the float maybe 'full' of fuel, not floating.
Get you a 45-50 ohm resistor, any wattage size and put one lead into the disconnected tan wire to the gauge and the other lead to a good ground and gauge should read approximately half tank.

Re: Gas gauge problem-need help

How much gas? Mine reads empty until I get at least four or five gallons in it.
