Retrosound stereo with subwoofer??

Has anyone hooked up a subwoofer to a Retrosound stereo? I have a
700 watt amp for 6x9s in rear deck and 6" speakers in front kick panels.
I was wondering how it would sound with using the amp for 1 10" sub
and rear 6x9s, and not amplify front speakers? Maybe someone has tried
this or an audio guru could give some help. Maybe I won't need a sub if
rockford speakers will give enough bass???

Re: Retrosound stereo with subwoofer??

Thats how i have mine hooked up and it sounds killer. The 6X9 scream, custom 10" sub/box, and 4x4 Focal in the front rip pretty good off the deck. Check it out in my photos album.

I NEED TO HIT THE LOTTERY

Re: Retrosound stereo with subwoofer??

I like having a sub, tho I wish mine had more power.
With a vert, I'm severely limited on speaker size, can't have any 6x9's, so I need the bass, my main speakers are only 5"!

Still, it's hard to create a single "full range" speaker. The 6x9 co-ax or tri-ax speakers are a decent 70's compromise, but the passive crossovers really only prevent the bass from blowing out the tweeters, they don't keep the high notes out of the big speaker.

My infinity separates use an active crossover box, with the tweeters and 5 inchers fed separately. low notes go to the big speaker, highs to the tweeter.

An even better system would use separate amps as well.

Re: Retrosound stereo with subwoofer??

Thank's Skip, All I can get with your link is one picture of car, wanna see rest
of it. Did you put focals in front kick panel? I have a sony amp 700 watt, will that
push a 10 sub ok? The front ones are ok with the 22 watts retrosound puts out.
Sounds like your pretty happy with that setup so I"ll get it done this weekend.
Thank's again, had a hard time deciding which way to go.

Re: Retrosound stereo with subwoofer??

I'll trade you for the ragtop and not worry about the speakers!! I need some bass
in my system because I'm deaf in my left ear. You can kinda hear the bass or feel
it when your deaf so it kinda balances it out. All that landscape equipment over 30
yrs did it, should have worn ear plugs. Still love loud music, but don't wanna blow out
other ear. I talked to the guys at Retrosound and they said try it like Skip did his, just
hope I have enough amp.
