What does this wire go to?

Hi guys,

I have a chunk of wire harness under the dash, it is about four feet long and is three wires wrapped together. Attached is the pic of the connectors on the end. This is a 67 327 bench seat RS automatic car that came with column shift. I seriously have no idea where this should be connected...

the single connector wire appears blackish, and the two wires appear yellow or orange-yellow and blackish... any recognizers out there?

Thanks in advance,
-Adam

Re: what does this wire go to?

Is this wire in the center or what side of the dash? What is not working?
After looking in the assembly manual I found a connector like that for a floor mounted clock (U35). It is UPC U35 Sheet A1. It looks like it hanges from the center of the dash and goes over and plugs in to the fuse panel. Hope this helps.

Re: what does this wire go to?

Seems to be almost center. It can reach either side of the dash from there. There is no radio in the car at the moment. The only things I know are not working is the courtesy circuit (lighter, glove box light and opera lights, haven't debugged that yet but I see a bad fuse in the block so probably there) and the wiper motor is not in yet so I don't know if the wipers work but all the wires are connected to the wiper switch, everything else appears to be working. The power windows work, the heater/ac blower works, lights, cluster lights, backup lights, neutral safety switch.

Re: what does this wire go to?

Adam how did you get the backs off of your bench seat? I have a bench seat also and couldn't figure out how they come off. The inside hinges are holding my up.

Re: what does this wire go to?

I just posted an update in interiors about this very thing for you, if that doesn't make sense (or if you already read and it does not) let me know and I'll try to describe better :-)

Re: What does this wire go to?

Hey Roger, that could explain the two holes in the floor that look like front mount holes for a console, but this being a bench car, no console! I'll look into that idea! Thanks.

Re: What does this wire go to?

Those wires are for a floor-mounted clock, which would also explain the two holes in the tunnel. Dual connector is power/ground, single connector is backlight power.

Re: What does this wire go to?

yessir, verified last night, the single wire connector is powered with lights on, the other two wire connector has a constant power from the courtesy circuit and a ground. And here I thought I had all my parts :-)
