69 console low fuel warning indicator?

Can someone explain how this works. In the console gauges is the LFWarning indicator canister with circut board. It also has what looks to me like a socket for a light bulb but I could have this wrong. Its all there minus a bulb. The dash idiot lights have a FUEL indicator with a bulb behind the window, although I have never seen it illuminate.
Whats the behavior of this system when its working? Is this on all 69's with factory console guages? Apreciate any help on this. Confused

A light bulb is not required plugged into the module. When the fuel level gets low the dash indicator lights. The after market modules are not that great. They tend to start indicating at around 1/4 tank of fuel. It is used on all factory console w/ gauges.

There was never a bulb.

The low fuel module was used in other Chev cars too, some of those got the bulb put in them. In Camaro, no bulb in the socket. The system uses the "fuel" light in the dash panel as the light to tell you its getting low.
I taped mine up into the back of the panel to keep it from rattling around and it works great.

Re: 69 console low fuel warning indicator?

to go into this a little deeper I went thru all this with my 67 and have put a new low fuel module on mine (HAVEN'T GOT TO DRIVE THE CAR YET FOR THE SNOW) but any way learned how these thing's work

1967 : when the fuel level get's below a 1/4 tank the module put's 12 volt + power on the YELLOW wire going to the low fuel bulb in the dash ,
1969 : when the fuel level get's below 1/4 tank the module put's a ground on the YELLOW wire
to test the bulb
1967 : put 12 volt + power on the YELLOW wire going to the dash BULB SHOULD COME ON
1969 : GROUND - the YELLOW wire going to the dash BULB SHOULD COME ON
my new reproduction module came with a sheet that read's NEVER INSTALL A BULB INTO THE LOW FUEL MODULE SOCKET

the fact that the aftermarket low fuel modules make the light come on at about 1/4 tank was my favorite part of the new one ,
WHY WOULD THAT BE BAD ?
