The OER works fine with HEI. I have them installed in 2 of my 69's. I've been told that you do not want to use the originals with HEI.

Re: Orignal 69 tach with HEI, will it burnout

They can burn out. In particular there is a diode and a special transistor inside called a UJT. Back in the day, semiconductors had relatively low specs on peak voltage and current. A tach filter is a good idea to help reduce the amplitude of the signal from an HEI or solid state ignition. However, there are plenty of folks who have done nothing and had no problems. IMHO, better safe than sorry - I recommend a filter.

thanks for the replies. Not sure i know what filter is. I will have to check
into that. Paid close to 200 for it don't want it to burn out.

THANKS TO ALL

That thing is awesome. It is so smooth and sounds great. I had a M21 before but always wanted a M22. Here is the link to where I got mine. Couldn't be happier with the service.
