Points to HEI conversion

Anyone know what the two wires are for that connect to the positive side of the coil on a points distributor? I'm converting to HEI from points. I know I need a constant 12V source and I already have that hooked up. Also I know the one wire on the negative side is for the tach.

Re: points to HEI conversion

The white fabric covered wire is the resister wire that went to the positive side of the coil, you don't need that anymore.

The yellow one is coming up from the starter to give the points a full 12volts when starting. You don't need that anymore either.

(note I've heard some 67's do not power the IGN circuit with the key in start, attach the yellow wire to the hei's 12 volt terminal with those)

Re: points to HEI conversion

Connect OE tach wire to TACH terminal on HEI if using aftermarket tach.

The great mystry is now solved...
I put the HEI in 20 yrs ago...in recent yrs I have been wondering what the spare yellow wire was....I remembered it was cause I changed something...but not what it was..
Wasnt important enough to look up.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative
