Newbie needs desperate help

hello, I am new here and just traded my 350z for a 68 camaro "ss" yesterday. but as soon as I left work and started driving home my headlights along with the brake lights would not work when the brake pedal is depressed or not they just dont illuminate along with the headlights. the turn signals and fender lights still illuminate so I dont know what it could be am assuming its a relay? I had a ford maverick a couple yrs ago so I am generaly mechanicaly inclined but never had any electrical issues so I am in the woods in that area? can any one please help
and the headlights are the non hidden ones
*they worked fine before I traded cars with the guy

Re: Newbie needs desperate help

Welcome to the Club, Josh. Jiggle the turn signal handle - power for the tailights and brake lights goes throught the t/sig switch. License plate light work?

We bought a new 2003 350Z Touring - nice car - but I was uncomfortable sitting while driving. We traded it in for a BMW M3 Convert - never going back.

Give a man a rescued dog for the health of both their souls. May 2017 ROTM Winner - Thank you!

Re: Newbie needs desperate help

thanks for the welcome, yea I just grew to dislike the Z. Am 21 so this camaro is my primary means of transport untill i buy a beater to take me everywhere so I am trying to get this issue fixed.
Today I checked all the fuses, which are good. I switched the sockets and bulbs for both brake lights and nothing still.
I just went downstairs to see if the turn signal lights would blink and they dont, they just stay illuminated with the headlight switch pulled to on.
Is that the reason my lights dont work? the turn signal switch??
Also what could be the issue with the hedlights??

Re: Newbie needs desperate help

Welcome to the site.

You made a good choice and will need to go through the issue period of owning a used car.......

I am thinking ground issues.......start by testing the power in and out of head light switch....if it checks out okay.......then go to the grounds.......electrical issues stink but with patients and a test light you can find the issue and most likely be able to fix in a couple of hours.....

Buy a 68 Assembly manual you will be happy you did....loaded with drawlings of and info about your car.
Good luck.
