Speedometer Issue - works fine, then flies to 120+

Driving along and the speedo works fine. Then all of a sudden, I hear a loud 'spinning' sound from the speedo and the needle bounces to way past 120mph.

Seems like something breaks free and makes the speedo thing the car is going light speed.

Then after a bit, it will settle down and start to work again.

Is there an adjustment on the speedo that may have come loose...or is the thing just dead and I need to R&R it?

If I have to R&R it, is the OER one worth the extra money?
