Brake light/ turn signal problem

ok, when i hit the brakes they light up correctly. when I turn on the parking lights and hit the brake they also work properly. if I hit the turn signal it flashes correctly but together with the brake I only have the turn signals. no brake lights.
if the paking lights are on and i hit the turn signals one side flashes and the other is steady, but step on the brakes and nothing changes.

I am super confused

any ideas on where to start? I was thinking there may be a problem with the turn switch.

Re: Brake light/ turn signal problem

Sounds like the turn signal switch as brakes go through the t/sig switch.
You might jiggle the t'sig handle to see if one function comes back. T/sig switches do wear out.

Of course, you've checked to make sure the correct bulbs are installed and everything was working before.

Also check the wiring harness under the steering column to make sure the pins all have a good connection.

Re: Brake light/ turn signal problem

thanks. I have a birthday in a few weeks and I have made a wish list (as asked by my wife). an ididit colum is at the top, along with the phone number to order it and the exact info needed , so I will let this problem sit for a couple of weeks.

on a seperate issue, does anyone know where i can get the connectors for the dome light bulb? mine are corroded and not making good contact. I tried napa but they were useless. I dont need the fixture, just the electrical connectors that hold the bulb.

Mark, Ive asked the same exact question in an earlier thread, regarding the Dome Light terminals. No responses.
