Wiring dash tach and console guages

I have a 69 conv original colum shift v8 car. It now has Muncie and tilt colum. I'm adding dash tach and console guages but was told I can't get a plug n play harness for this app without changing the factory underdash harness to a 4 speed console guage harness. My question is has anyone done this or can give me some advice? Thanks.

Can't you buy the "upgrade" harness and console harness and be done w/ it?

Well I was told I would have to change my under dash harness to make everything plug-n-play

I really can't speak from experience and say you are OK w/ the above. But I'm pretty sure I read that others have called the vendor (Factory Fit) directly and have received great customer service.?.?
