Volt gauge

hey guys just wirering up some of my gauges. just wondering for my volt gauge what would be the best place to hook this up, the car is a 1982 cutlass with chevy 350 . and I was also just wondering how you read the gauge? were should it be pointing when the car is running? thanks in advance

You could plug into the Power Convenience panel next to the fuse panel and find a blank spade having either IGN or ACC power to one voltmeter terminal and the other terminal to a good ground. If meter reads backwards, revewrse the leads on the meter studs.

With key on, engine off, battery voltage will be indicated.
Engine on, charging voltage, 13-14.5 volts.

ok thanks alot I will try that , my charge batery light kept flickering on and off while the car was running any ideas why?

loose connections on the back of the alternator
Worn bearings A diode going down or bushes worn in the alternator
