Ground Wire for electric gauges

New electric gages being installed. The instructons say that for the temp and oil pressure gages, the ground lead needs to go to the block. Is there any reason that a firewall ground won't work if the firewall is properly grounded to the block by the strap?

The senders for both temp and oil (electric) gauges must be grounded and they will ground through the thread of the sender, so you have to be careful if you use thread sealer or similar.
The ground for the gauge should be OK anywhere you can find a good circuit to ground.
