Original style radio "67" Test before install

I have a couple of original style AM radios that I want to put back into a resto I am doing but a wiring expert I am not. Can someone explain how I can easily check to see if they work on the bench before installing. I have original plugs in the back that have wires clipped (3) Labeled as noted below:

Do not operate without
10 OHM Speaker
GND SPKR 12V

Also, is this just a regular speaker?
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Thanks! Got it figured when I discovered that the battery was dead in the car due to the fact that I have had the doors open for the last week working on the interior, DUH!

I just tested my '67 radio this way. Works! Used my repro AM/FM antenna, a 8.6 ohm speaker out of my old truck, and got both AM and FM stations pretty clearly (radio is out of the car)! Now, what to do w/ it...

Are you guys saying that you ground the left speaker wire as well as the chassis? Crap! Maybe that's why mine smoked a little when I fired it up without grounding the speaker the other day...ouch.

AM only, 3 connections:

Left speaker -, middle speaker +, right 12V
