How to test tach wiring with 6AL

My tach is dead, car as a MSD 6al installed.

I removed the 3 wires behind the tach , i am getting 12 volts, ground.

How can i test the signal coming from the MSD, put my test light and its always on , while car is idling.

thanks

Some tachs don't work with MSD and need an adapter. MSD should have something in the instruction manual or on-line on what Mfg's work and/or don't.

thanks, but i am aware of installation instructions...problem is i purchased a decfective voltage regulator and the volts spiked to 16V... thus burning a few electricals in the car.

I am trying to figure out if the tach is burned or the MSD.

To test the MSD there are instructions on that too.

Turn the key and ground to white wire ... look for a spark (I think thats what it is, I'll have to look) But that won't help on the tach side of it Sorry.
