Question reverse switch, tremec trans

I have a Tremec TKO 600 in my 67 Camaro SS and my reverse lights stopped working. If I bypass the switch I can get the lights to work. The switch is just a 2 lead sensor that screws into the side of the tranny, it has a ball bearing that is pushed in by something inside the tranny when shifted to reverse and makes the contact. I removed the switch and tested by pushing on the ball and checking the resistance across the terminals. I got a reading of 5-7, does it sound like the switch is no good?

5-7 ohms should not be enough resistance to keep the switch from working. Try hooking up the wires to it while it's out and push the ball in. If the lights come on then you know it's not the switch.
