mr STINER I am sure you know the answer to this can you tell if alternator is internal or external by looking at it

Internal Reg. look like [--] (SI) or [----][/(CS)

John has you covered.

And the internal ones usually ship with a black plastic plug over the field/meter spade hookups.

so should I eliminate the plug off the harness and hook up the voltage regulator [bypass ] like it shows you how to in the tech section

You should if going to an internal reg'd alternator.
You can make spaded jumpers and plug into the ext reg connector and not cut off the connector.
