67 Kick Panel mounting depth

I have a pair of Eclipse 4x6 speakers that have a mounting depth of 1.75". The wont fit because of the door hing screws that protrude into the kick panel speaker opening.
Anyone ever try to cut off the ends of the bolts to make more room?
Otherwise I have to find a 4x6 with no more than a 1 5/8" mounting depth. Only ones I've found are Pioneers 20 & 25 watts.
