Re: No start

Coil ground wire hooked up? Goes to one of the coil holddown bolts.
Spring loaded button is installed between the coil and rotor?
BAT terminal mated to HEI?
Rotor touching spring loaded button?
Pick-up coil measures 1000-1500 ohms and hooked up?
Module hooked up?
Swapped old module?

Re: No start

Yes, Doug is talking about the ground cable to the battery and engine block. Also, check to make sure dist body is grounded at the holddown, use an ohmmeter or ohms function of the meter.

Also, to check pick-up coil resistance, unhook the two leads from the module and use the ohms function across the two wires to the coil.

Re: No start

I took the module loose put ohm meter on 2k scale put leads to the white and green wires that go to the module got a(0.794) reading.? Did I do this right? Checked the continuity between Dist housing and hold down screw (good) and intake manifold also good!

Re: No start

Yes, it is good, but you should unplug the pick-up coil wires, the other side of the module and measure continuity into the disconnected wires, the coil.

The inside connector on the cap, the harness coming from within the dist and hooks to the coil externally, is plugged in good?

The replacement coil, does it have the same color wires as the removed coil, red & white or red & yellow? Both original and new must match colors.

Re: No start

Check to make sure you have 12v at the distributor. I know you said its hooked into the ign on the fuse box, but check for voltage at the distributor.
