67 RS headlight door wiring

I'm troubleshooting the headlight doors on my 67 rs/ss. when i started out the doors did nothing when the switch was operated. I found that the circuit breaker was bad and replaced that. now the doors open normally but when the lights are turned off and the ignition on, the breaker cycles on and off indicating a short to me. I have read that a bad #3 relay will cause this condition and i took the cover off the R3 relay and manually 'pulled it in'. This caused the doors to close normally and the breaker stopped cycling. So i think i need a new R3 relay but there were a few other electrical things on the car that i have fixed already that give me reason to be suspicious if they are wired correctly and i'm trying to confirm this.
my question is : for the two pole wire connections on the relays, is there a right side up or down - the plug goes on either way, does it matter? In other words does it does it matter if the blue and brown wires are reversed on the relay and if so which goes to the top post and bottom post??

Thanks for any advice!

Re: 67 RS headlight door wiring

Not any particular way to connect, as long as current is going through a coil, a magnetic field will be made to pull the contacts closed.

However, as a science project, align all the relays in the same order, ie, a certain number on top or side, and connect the connector both ways and compare the results of each installation to the other, just to be sure. As I said, it shouldn't matter.

You should search for a schematic of the RS wiring by a member named mnm9 in one of his posts.
