How to power my windows?

I'm swapping my manuals to electric life (weak motors) power windows in my 69 camaro. I'm using this (really crappy and expensive) 6pin switch from keepitclean. I'm only installing 4 switches in the center console. I really don't know what im doing. So far im using 16 guage (is that okay?) automotive wiring and i have 1 ground wire splitting 8 ways(is that okay?).
The regulator motors are wired directly into the switches.
Where do i get the power from? Do I just plug it into the fuse box somewhere? Am I going to blow a fuse every time the window hits its limit or do I need some sort of circuit breaker relay thingamajig?
heres a link to a picture of my fusebox
Thank you for your halp!

Is that all it takes? Can i just plug a 16 guage wire in the fusebox and split it 4 ways to the switches and call it a day? I didn't know if it was that simple.

Re: How do power my windows?

Sorry to all for the HUGE pic. its a weblink and small print.

I would check your wiring against this. I am not a Guru of wire when it comes to this. But this is a good diagram to have if you are going to mess with electric windows. I havent started on my 67 electric windows yet. ( Im not that far in the build to be messing with the windows now)

It is a Generic wire diagram no idea if its for 67-68 or 69 if anyone can chime in it would be appreciated.

Re: How do power my windows?

You should definitely run relays and you can use regular Bosch 30amp for each window (now made by Tyco I believe). You need to run a FUSED power wire (I would say 14ga and make good soldered connections) to supply power to the relays and use the wire from the switch to operate the relays. The wire from the switches can be smaller as it will not be carrying much load.

Re: How do power my windows?

Switched power comes from your fuse box to a relay that is mounted near the door jamb switch, behind the kick panel.
Power from the bettery comes from the horn relay via the firewall mounted 30amp circuit breaker that is also used to power a conv's roof.

For example..

Re: How to power my windows?

Ikbu, you're diagram is good.
Use 14 AWG wire, min size.
Solder the connections.
As suggested, use 30 amp fuse and get power from the horn relay buss bar. Min wire size 12 AWG to switches.

Suggestion: make up a harness/circuit on the workbench and try it out before installing.
Additionally, you might install an ammeter to monitor current drawn for future reference. Remember, reg's on the work bench won't draw near as much current compared to having a load/window on it.
