Re: Push button start. what amprage?

You do not want that to go through a small button switch, better off installing a relay and let the power go through that. http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp

Re: Push button start. what amprage?

I used a generic starter switch from Advance on an engine test stand and it worked great. It didn't get daily use but I think it would have held up.

Re: Push button start. what amprage?

They actually make a system similar to what Mercedes uses.. You carry a transmitter/card in your wallet and when you get within a few feet it activates the switch and energizes the push to start button...

A buddy installed it on his bike...

Re: Push button start. what amprage?

A 15-20A rated button will be plenty if you're wiring it into the purple ignition wire. Otherwise, you can get some much snazzier buttons and use a relay with the purple wire on the relay contacts like others suggested.

I've got one of these in a box somewhere that I was going to use as an interlock on my start circuit. I've just got a jumper where the old neutral safety switch used to plug in and was going to put it there.

Re: Push button start. what amprage?

The one from Summit as Steiner suggested works fine.
I had two of them wired in my previous car, one in a bracket on the intake for bumping the engine over during valve adjustment, and one installed in the radio knob hole in case the ign switch ever failed to 'start'.
