Fuel gauge reading past full

Hello, I have the fuel gauge reading always past full, when switched off, goes back on full mark. I read many posts but could not reach my problem. Evertything was working well before my restoration. Any suggestions please Thanks.

Re: Fuel gauge reading past full

Check the ground and sending unit wires for good connections. Especially where the ground strap on the sender mounts to the body.

Re: Fuel gauge reading past full

If you can check the resistance between the sender wire and ground...it should read about 90 ohms when the tank is full...about 10 when empty. If you read an open circuit that's why your guage reads past full. Either the wire on the sender is broke....bad ground...or bad sender.

69 SS, 350/300 h.p., M-20, 12 bolt, matching numbers.
