69 console gauge wiring

Can someone tell me where this yellow wire goes. It is from a repo console gauge harness for a 69 4 speed car. Also, how about this orange one from under the dash near the ash tray area. Thanks

Sorry about the pics, I'll try it again.

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

Guessing w/o seeing a picture....

Orange is probably the cig lighter wire - does it have a round platic connector on the end?

Yellow likely is the "low fuel" warning wire.

I just taped up the yellow wire, I think it had a brown connector on it? I did not have the low fuel warning light

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

The orange wire is probably something in the courtesy lighting circuit, ash tray, glove box, console lighting. The yellow wires I think were used for a radio wire and the low fuel light circuit.

The orange is the dome light at the rear of the console.
The yellow is the low fuel cell.

Here is a link to the console gauge diagram in pdf. I know there is a better quality one out there but can't find the link but this one will do.

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

Thanks guys, the yellow makes sense for the low fuel. The orange is not the lighter wire with the round end. It has a strange looking end kind of like the yellow low fuel wire.

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

The orange could also be the glove box light wire. Flat plastic end, white?

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

According to my diagram, most of the orange underdash wires are all on the same circuit - cig lighter, GB light, under dash courtesy lights, dome light (not on a conv though), rear console light, and a clock power wire. These should all be hot with the key off. You might put a test light on it.

There should also be an orange going to the brake light switch from the fuse panel, and one from the headlight switch to the fuse panel.

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

I have an orange wire that looks just like that under my dash as well. That wire and another orange wire have been taped off ever since I have owned it. I would like to know what they are for.

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

The Orange wire is for the glove box light. You can see it hidden behind the coil of wires in the picture below of the part.

The Yellow is for the Low Fuel Warning Module.

Re: 69 console gauge wiring

I'm pretty sure they all have the orange wire for the glove box light. If the car didn't come with the light, the wire was left taped up in the harness with a clear plastic cover. That wire is a constant hot wire.
