Delco turn signal switch assembly question

I just installed a delco turn signal switch assembly from
classic industries. My question is there was a long black screw that came with the assembly which I assumed was for the turn signal lever, but when I put it in the screw hole it just kinda fell in. I had another screw that was a little wider that I used and it worked. My question is, with my original switch there was a black screw mechanism that came with my old switch that you could actually take out of the backside of the switch. The turn signal arm
actually screwed in this. At quick glance it appeared that the one for my new assembly was self contained. There wasn't a place on the backside for me to this piece in my new assembly. What was this long black screw for? Was I supposed to put the screW mechanism in my new assembly? The other screw I put in worked but I'm afraid that I missed a step or something. I just don't want my lever to start coming loose because I did the install wrong.

Re: Delco turn signal switch assembly question

Just removed the original Delco turn signal switch from my '67, and it sounds just like the replacement unit you purchased. Mine was white, but I've head some of the other colors are a different manufacturer. Perhaps they're not all the same type?

As for the arm coming loose.. there's really no way for the screw to work its way loose, as the arm itself is kept from moving around in the switch since it sinks into a bevel in the switch itself when you screw it in. I'm sure you've got nothing to worry about there.

Re: Delco turn signal switch assembly question

Okay, thats what I figured. Was just scratching my head as to why the screw that came with the assembly was to small. Regardless, I had another one that worked.......
