Fuel Guage goes to E when I turn the headlights on

I hope this will help someone out. I have a '67 Camaro with the factory console gauges. My fuel gauge always read "Full" so I followed the steps given in this forum to determine if it was the guage or the fuel sender. Looking in the trunk between the fuel filler neck and the taillight panel, I was able to find a wiring connector with two wires going in one side and one wire coming out the other. The tan colored wire is the one leading to the fuel sender (ii is also the one coming up through the trunk floor). I unplugged that wire from the connector and using alligator clips, grounded the plug (NOT the wire from the sending unit I had unplugged) and found that the guage dropped to "E." So I felt confident the sending unit was bad. I got the new sending unit installed and gas tank back in postion and was excited to see the fuel guage working. But on taking the car to get gas, I found that when turning on the headlights, my fuel guage would drop to "E." Also, the console guage lights would not come on. I found that the ground wire that comes out of the console gauge wiring harness was not tight. A little tweaking and tightening of this ground wire and everything works perfectly now. Thanks to all for the previous posts that helped me derermine I needed to replace the fuel sender.
