"HELP" 69 coupe tail light bulb question

I have an 1157 bulb in the turn signal Outer socket) and a 1156 in the back up (middle socket) and 1156 in the brake? (Inner socket) on 69 coupe, is this correct or should I have another 1157 somewhere

I believe you are correct with 2 each 1156 and 1 each 1157 back there.

Re: "HELP" 69 coupe tail light bulb question

1156 bulbs won't fit an 1157 socket and vice versa. 1156 has two low tits and 1157 has a high and a low. Since you just replaced your trunk harness I'll assume it has the correct sockets. RS used 1157 at the outer and inner spots on 69 but obviously no center socket as the B/U light was separate and below the bumper. You're welcome.

Just so i'm clear...my 69 standard coupe should have 1157 outer and inner with a 1156 in the center?

No - 1157 outer, 1156 center and inner for standard non-RS. Not to confuse - but RS got 1157 outer and inner - nothing center. Look closely at your sockets and the "tit" arrangement and install the appropriate bulbs.

DOH - an even easier way to tell is to look at the number of wires going into each socket - the 1157 will have three - two hots - one for each filament - and a ground. The 1156 will have two wires - a hot for the single filament and a ground.

Re: "HELP" 69 coupe tail light bulb question

1157 has two filaments. For example, front park lights use one filament for the paklights, the other filament for turn sigs.

1156 has one filament .

On a 69 Camaro - since the sockets are mounted in plastic as opposed to the inferior earlier models which used the metal housing as a ground - they also have their own ground wires. A single ground services both filaments.

Do a google for 1155 bulb - not familiar with it.

As I recall the 69 camaro front 1157 is amber color - probably a slightly different #

The chart is in error. It tripped me up too a few years ago.

Re: "HELP" 69 coupe tail light bulb question

I wont say the chart is in error but it is confusing. In the front there is only one bulb for the two different functions, in the rear outer there is one bulb for three functions. the portion of the chart quoted here apparently doesn't address the innner socket or the difference between standard and RS.

Re: "HELP" 69 coupe tail light bulb question

Thanks for your support! I think is trying to show the difference between the 2 models without writing it down.

Today I cleaned the dash light fuse holder and the connector to the light switch and now the parking lights and dash lights are working again!!!!! one thing I did notice is that the 30 amp fuse holder i'm running from positive battery cable to junction block has a little melt look going on and I cant seperate the 2 sections to get the fuse out.
