69 standard coupe Windshield Wiper Washer shoots water all the time

I hooked up the Windshield Wiper Washer today after 20 years and the pump is spraying water all the time. Should I scrape the paint where the pump mounts to the wiper motor for a good ground? When I press the wiper button in to test the washer off the motor I hear a clicking noise but I dont see anything moving? Thanks in advance for the help.

Interesting... The wiper circuits have power available all the time. When the switch is moved, it grounds that circuit. So, the pump running all the time seems to indicate a ground is present in it's circuit w/o the switch supplying it. I would guess that the pump is grounding out somehow. Though, it could also be a shorting Dark Blue wire, as well.

The wiring harness is new. I was using a metal gear and it was contacting the pump, would this ground it out? I just found the plastic gear that came with the delco replacement pump I'm using and its shorter and made of plastic.

Also where do the 3 ties go on the hoses?

Update.. I replaced the metal gear with the correct plastic wheel and everything is working correctly now. Only question now is where the tie straps go that hold the hoses in place.

Cool! Yah, a "larger" gear that is metal seems like a bad idea... ;-)

I'm pretty sure there were no additional straps used for the hoses in a non-RS car. That is what the AIM says, too. It's probably just the repro guys trying to make MORE money...

I couldn't confirm in the AIM but I think the hose is strapped with the wiring to the left inner wheelhouse on a standard coupe. I saw reference for the RS hose routing that shows the main WW feed hose strapped to the harness on the passenger side wiring, the standard coupe main hose runs on the drivers side fender under the same straps as the wiring if I recall correctly.

I have to of the same looking straps like the repo are showing but cant remember where they go. I did use the straps on the left inner wheelwell as mentioned. and it doesnt look like anyother straps are required. Thanks for the help.
