And So It Begins...

Wired up the entire car. Everything new, everything. Everything works... except the RS headlight doors of course. Nothing, nada. zilch. I start the troubleshooting process tonight. I was too tired to go any further lol. Please bear with me as I cuss, fight and trudge through this. Hope its something easy.

Re: And So It Begins...

Electric. All new stuff. All the relays are new. The dash is getting power because everything works inside. Light switch is working, at least partially, because gauges all illuminate. It's new as well. I will troubleshoot tonight and document my progress and see what you guys say. I was hoping this was going to be easy lol.

Found this: https://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=151851

This is something I will be doing here soon. I actually had a nightmare about it last night. LOL
I hope you get your issue worked out. I'm sure if you got this far it should be an easy fix.

What harness did you go with?

RJ, make sure all grounds are good, clean and ohm out. Many an electrical issue is traced to freshly painted items in which the paint film prevents the grounds to flow.

Re: And So It Begins...

Yes, correct M&H RS harness. Everything is there... I think lol. Is there anything in the interior of the car besides the headlight switch that powers the headlight motors? The reason I ask is because there are 3 wires unaccounted for under the dash. 1-I'm pretty sure is the wiper switch (I went with DSE wiper which includes new stand-alone wiper harness), 2-is a brown and blue which goes to a harness going back (back-up lights I think), 3-I have no idea. Probably a radio feed mine is a radio delete car and I kept it that way.

In my wire harness from M&H there was a seperate package with a blue and brown wire, about a foot long that was labeled, "RS under dash extension". I can only guess that goes to the back up light harness but the dash end has a bunch of brown wires and plugs on them I have yet to figure out.

Having said all that, I don't think any of that has anything to do with the door motor circuit. I will get to that later. Other than that its all hooked up. I'm at work, so just trying to arm myself with some knowledge to get started t-shooting when I get home. I do have the RS schematic.

Kevin, so far I've checked a bunch of the related grounds and they ohm out good.

Re: And So It Begins...

I have used M&H in the past and their support is top notch. I would give them a call about the RS extension wires as well as ask if there might be anyhting obvious that you might have missed.

Re: And So It Begins...

Bill for the win.... I think.
I called M&H and after 34 minutes of holding I got a very well educated tech. The "extension harness" I have been babbling about is supposed to be jumpered in to the headlight and ignition switch. It works both the parking lights and the headlight motors. So... I will try this tonight and let you all know how I make out.

Re: And So It Begins...

Wired up and they opened. Now just need to re check grounds. It was that extension.
