New Cig. lighter blowing 25a fuse

Just received a new lighter assembly for the 67 and received all three pieces. Installed and hooked up orange wire to back side and blew fuse. Second 25 amp fuse blew as well. Stumped as to why I would be blowing fuses and the only power wire connects to the one pin connector on the rear of assembly. using new AAW Classic update wiring harness. Any thoughts?

Dose it blow the fuse with the lighter out of the socket? Dose it blow the fuse with lighter in the socket but not pushed in? Dose it blow the fuse only after you push in on the lighter?

Possibly one of the tangs down inside the receptacle from the 12V line is touching the inside of the barrel. I poked around in mine once with my finger and made the fuse pop when one of them flexed over.

Been away for a bit. I'll check things out a bit and let you know what I find sometime tomorrow evening. I need to pick up some extra fuses.

Re: New Cig. lighter blowing 25a fuse

I took the lighter assembly back out for the third time and finally found a very small stray piece of metal shaving lodged inside, I quess from manufacturing and it was causing the lighter to short out. Air compressor, tweezers and a small magnet took care of it. It was caught between one of the tangs and the outer wall way in the back/bottom. Lighter is now working properly. Thanks for your imput.
