68 Camaro console temp gauge question

I am installing console gauges in my 68 Camaro. All new wiring and new gauge package. The temp gauge pegs "c" when you turn key on. But seems to show temp when key is off. I have tried adding another ground but that didn't help.

Has anyone else run into this?

Hi Tom,

It pegs to the Cold side? When you ground the connector at the temp sending unit, you should get a full HOT deflection. If not....and it pegs to full cold, I would say you have the temp gage wires reversed.

Re: 68 Camaro console temp gauge question

You need to disconnect the wire that is going to the Temp Light. I had the same issue on my 69, it was pegging when the light was turned on when starting the engine. Mine was also acting up when the car engine was running. Good luck.
