67 RS Quick Confirmation

Guys I know there is about a billion posts on this, but I just want to make sure I am reading correctly as I have not been able to confirm a few things are correct.

All the limit switches are suppossed to be installed with the ground terminal facing down?

I rebuilt my headlights with a very competant Camaro authority and he instructed me how to assemble. They were not all facing down. So he was having a bad day, or what I am reading now is not right.

I used the FAQ from retro-electro and wired exactly like their diagrams and it still doesn't work.

Do the headlights (bulbs) need to be installed for the doors to work?

I seem to see a few people say this but have not been able to confirm. I will solve this in a few hours when I go buy lights, but I would like to know for future reference. Mine are out and the doors dont work.

BACKGROUND:
New wire harness after complete restoration. Relay panel has power. Key off lights on, nothing. Push the door off the limit switch and it will open. Key on light off, nothing. Even pushing the door off the limit switch does nothing. Doors have never closed in any situation. Motors test good. CB test good (obviously). Relay resistance across the coil is 46ohm, 48 ohm and 86 ohm which I assume is good. With power on the lights, the relays will "click" randomly and the lights on the dash will flicker.

The headlight bulbs might be causing some of your problems. They may supply ground to the headlight door system. Checkout this link to see original diagrams. http://www.rclabbe.com/rswiring/rswiring.pdf

I can't open that at work. I will look at home and post back what happens after I try the bulbs.

What he said. The bulbs must be installed. Also, the ground terminal must face down if you you want to use the wire sequence described on the retro-electro FAQ page.

Re: 67 RS Quick Confirmation

I thought the wire sequence there was real easy to follow so I changed all the limit switches and had to turn one of the switches around on the braket.

I can see the bulbs hanging me up and will install them tonight.

I'm not confident though because on opening, they still hang until I manually push the doors off the limit switch. One thing at a time. I'll will get the bulbs in there and go from there.

Re: 67 RS Quick Confirmation

How do I know which terminal on the limit switch should be the ground wire? Someone with similiar symptoms said this was the problem but I don't know which terminal is the "right" one.

Re: 67 RS Quick Confirmation

Put 2 brand new headlight bulbs in and everything works like advertised. Amazing. Thanks for all the help.
