Coil - Distributor distancing

What is the furthest apart these should be from each other? May need to relocate my coil and would like to know my options.

Thanks

Steve

Re: Coil - Distributor distancing

You can relocate it most anywhere as long as the wires connecting to it are extended also.
If an oil filled coil, keep it upright, not on the side as being horizontal affects cooling.

Re: Coil - Distributor distancing

IF a pionts dizzy the distance/length of the wire and the size influences the burning of pionts..capatiance required.
Another issue is any inductence picked up in the wires by near by wires...thu this is very rare.

Re: Coil - Distributor distancing

I have an MSD 6AL and Blaster 2 coil. The problem is it may be over heating as it is located on the rear of the intake adjacent to the distributor.

Re: Coil - Distributor distancing

On some of my previous race cars, I moved the coil to the interior of the car. Much cooler in there.
