67 327 distributor

hey guys
I am tearing down the 327 and planning a stock rebuild, except for the distributor. It's a 210 hp and I need to go with the HEI distributor. Is there one that yall would recommend? Go with vacuum advance or not? Any need for a flamethrower coil?
I am eyeing one at Ricks. Part # 720631.
thanks

Re: 67 327 distributor

A pertronix kit will eliminate the points and look stock. The Ignitor 3 includes an integrated rev limiter. I've had no problems with mine for the past 7 or so years (Ignitor II and flamthrower coil). You ABSOLUTELY want the vacuum advance on a street motor.

Re: 67 327 distributor

Also looking at pertronics. Can you replace the cap and rotor with stock gm parts or do you need to get that from pertronics. Looking to put a new distributor in mine but can't fit HEI type. Would like to use a distributor that you could use stock cap and rotor if you had to. Is there such an animal?

Re: 67 327 distributor

You can still use the standard(non HEI) cap and rotor with a Pertronix module.
